It occasionally happens that one of THE BRUNETTES has to go to an event solo; so last weekend I headed up to the nation's capital without my better half to see how Ottawa throws Fashion Week. Closing off Preston St. to be a pedestrian zone for the event, Ottawa Fashion Week impressively transformed the city's Little Italy neighborhood into a Fashion Boulevard with event tents, shopping vendors, beautiful people dressed to the nines and a diverse range of Spring/Summer 2013 runway shows that featured both local and international designers.
The event was heavily attended despite some pretty dismal, wet and dreary weather conditions and attracted celebrities, local models and politicians. I ran into an old friend and colleague of mine, Sid Cratzbarg, who has been an Ottawa correspondent for Fashion Television and has made significant contributions to Ottawa's fashion scene with his own business, Accessories by Sid, and as a scent stylist for the Aristocrat of Scent.
I wore a sweater from designer Yukio Mishiba and denim from 3F, an independent Toronto label, in the pictures above. Below, you can see some pictures from one of my favourite Ottawa Fashion Week shows by Y!DNA that featured leather pieces with edgy tailoring and gold-sparkle rain showers.
