Trout Rainwear 2015 Press Preview

On Monday November 24th, THE BRUNETTES had the privilege of attending the Trout Rainwear 2015 Press Preview. Held at Gladstone Hotel's Ryerson Artspace, the event was hosted by Charise Garcia of Kaeru Communications and featured a gallery-inspired layout.

Trout Rainwear is founded by Ashley McDonald and Jenn Lancefield whose garments are designed in Toronto and made in Vancouver. The creative duo believe that “women no longer have to choose between looking good and dressing for the weather" and that their consumers can easily have both.

Their rainwear range is made using custom and high-quality Italian fabrics that are 100% waterproof without skipping out on style. In addition to their womenswear range, the designers introduced their first-ever menswear model that will be available for purchase in January of 2015.

After taking in the preview’s gallery space, a set-up that included suspended raincoat canvases, THE BRUNETTES sipped on some wine and indulged in raincoat sugar cookies courtesy of Hello Baked.

Trout Rainwear’s affinity for style and function turns rainy days into unexpected style opportunities.

THE BRUNETTES @ the East Room Launch

Last night THE BRUNETTES travelled over to Toronto’s east end to celebrate the launch of East Room, a membership office space that gives professionals and creatives a hip, collaborative environment to work and offers its members more than just a desk, but also a place to network, host meetings, and grow their businesses.

Guests at the party included celebrities, media, and many young professionals from the complete gamut of creative fields.  Oysters and lobster rolls, plus a selection of bar-rail drinks were served throughout the night, giving attendees all the sustenance they needed to explore the many offices, meeting rooms and common areas of East Room’s stylish studio space.

Exclusive Expedition Gear Launches: THE BRUNETTES Attend the Fjällräven Fall/Winter 2014 Press Preview

Sharing its story with the Canadian press for the first time, THE BRUNETTES were among a select group of media invited to attend the Fjällräven Fall/Winter 2014 press preview held last night in the Ballroom at the Gladstone Hotel

The rainy, spring evening provided for the perfect night to head indoors and learn about fashionable, waterproof and water-resistant outerwear that is sure to keep even the most experienced mountain trekkers warm and cozy when out for long hours in the cold.

Teaching us all about Fjällräven's unique brand story and heritage—in addition to giving a demonstration on how a simple bar of wax can help preserve, protect, and keep moisture from absorbing into clothing—Nathan Dopp, Fjällräven's VP of Sales and Marketing for North America, demonstrated why Fjällräven's approach to outerwear is superior to that of its competitors.

Innovative fabrics, wax coatings, bold colours, down-filled pieces, and affordable price points are just some of the trademarks of Fjällräven's sporty, yet stylish outerwear, accessories, and expedition gear that make the line a hip alternative to those who may be suffering from Canada Goose fatigue.

The brand, whose name translates from Swedish to mean arctic fox and is also used as an expression to describe sharply dressed individuals, has a long history in producing outwear with roots that date back to 1960s Sweden, while the company's KÃ¥nken knapsack has been loved by children and adults worldwide for decades.

Although Fjällräven has already been available to the Canadian market through independent retailers, the press preview wasn't only showcasing the brand's future collections; it was also celebrating the establishment of its first store in Canada, which opened in Vancouver earlier this season.

Artistic Adult Collectibles: The Design Exchange’s ‘This Is Not A Toy’ Exhibit Will Appeal to Your Inner Child

Opening to the general public today through to the 19th of May, the ‘This Is Not A Toy’ exhibit is the latest art showcase from Toronto’s design museum, the Design Exchange. Curated by Sara Nickelson, John Wee Tom, and celebrity-guest curator Pharrell Williams, the exhibit displays adult collectibles and designer toys as artistic sculptures that comment on everything from pop culture to social issues.

Attending an advance, media preview and breakfast at the exhibit early yesterday morning, THE BRUNETTES enjoyed an exclusive sneak peek of the toy gallery’s private collections and funhouse-like surroundings. Familiar characters, celebrities, and original creations all presented in toy form inspired many at the launch to Instagram a pic of the toy that most appealed to their inner child, creating an air of playfulness that could be felt throughout the room.
