Colourful Fur-Clad Clutches: The ASHTIANI Fall 2013 Collection Combines Art and Fashion

Presented in the studio space at World MasterCard Fashion Week, the ASHTIANI Fall/Winter 2013 collection wowed spectators with its artful take on winter fashion. Designer Golnaz Ashtiani combined pop-art colours with unusual fabric choices, textures and blends to create pieces with interesting compositions and shapes.

THE BRUNETTES sat front and center at this show, getting an up-close view of some of their favourite pieces, which included a navy-blue outfit composed of triangular shapes and cutouts, ox-blood garments seemingly inspired by human anatomy, and fur-clad clutches in vibrant, contrasting hues.

Wild City Looks: MATIS by Lucian Matis Fall 2013 Juxtaposes the Animal Kingdom with City Living

Inspired both by the natural world and by civilization, the MATIS by Lucian Matis Fall/Winter 2013 collection contrasted wild, animal and floral prints, and bold, nature-inspired colours with structured city looks of plaid and monochromatic cable wool in what was one of World MasterCard Fashion Week’s most visually dynamic collections.

The theme of two worlds colliding made for a stellar presentation of stark juxtapositions, allowing for multiple pieces in the lineup to standout from the rest as show-stealers, while the creative use of jewel tones and spring hues offered an unexpected surprise for a Fall/Winter show that was applauded by an admiring audience.

Hair-Raising Runway Looks: The Sid Neigum Fall/Winter 2013 Collection is Future-Ready

Pulling inspiration from both the ‘80s and ‘90s, the Sid Neigum Fall/Winter 2013 collection presented the designer’s vision of a high-fashion, post-apocalyptic world. Modern cuts, structured silhouettes, asymmetrical tailoring, and sharp lines gave this collection an edgy, avant-garde aesthetic, while oversized garments with exaggerated draping provided a softer side to the range.

Models in the show walked the runway wearing simple makeup palettes and samurai ponytails that stood straight up into the air, further adding to the futuristic theme and minimalist design of the collection. An instrumental soloist playing the cello provided the show with its musical accompaniment, making the Sid Neigum Fall/Winter 2013 collection one of the more cerebral presentations at World MasterCard Fashion Week.
