Moose&Beaver Fall/Winter 2013: Opening Night Party

Before seeing the Moose&Beaver Apparel Fall/Winter 2013 collection at the historic Burroughes Building location, THE BRUNETTES enjoyed champagne and tasty h'ordevres at the label's cocktail party.

THE BRUNETTES sipped on the evening's signature drink and danced to some dj-spun beats before heading to the runway space to view the label's debut womenswear collection.

After grabbing a seat and seeing the cozy collection take to the runway stage, the duo graced the catwalk themselves and strutted their stuff for the camera. Concluding a great evening, THE BRUNETTES posed with Moose&Beaver Apparel designer and owner Leah Antoinette who gushed at the event's great turnout. Celebrities on the invite list included: Luisa D'Oliveira from CBC's 'Cracked', Carrie-Lynn Neales and Matt Baram from 'Seed', and Naomi Snieckus from 'Mr. D'.

Luxuriously Canadian Couture: The Moose&Beaver Apparel Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Heats Up the Runway

 

Celebrating the launch of her new label, Moose&Beaver Apparel, designer and owner Leah Antoinette threw a stellar Fall/Winter 2013 show for the brand last Tuesday in an open loft space at the top of the Burroughes Building in downtown Toronto.

The undeniably Canadian and sophisticated collection featured pieces made from luxurious materials such as hand-knitted alpaca yarns, leathers, and vintage furs, making the brand both environmentally-conscious and animal-friendly. Neutral hues with bold drops of navy, modern tailoring, and blended textiles are all hallmarks of this diverse collection of casualwear that is eye-catching enough to wear day or night. 

An audience favorite of the collection, and of THE BRUNETTES as well, was a fur-trimmed snood that would make as much of a statement on the streets as it did on the runway. Pieces from this Moose&Beaver Apparel line will range in price from $250 to $1000 and can be purchased in stores throughout North America and on the company’s site, a small price to pay for an item of winter clothing that manages to be light, warm, soft and edgy all rolled into one.

Rio-Inspired Designer Collaborations: The Entire Derek Lam for Kohl’s DesigNation Collection Revealed

If you're planning on doing some cross-border shopping this spring, you may just want to wait until April 5^th. That’s when Kohl’s is set to release its latest collaboration under its DesigNation label with San Francisco-born designer Derek Lam.

A piece from the Rio-inspired collection has already been spotted being worn by ‘Gossip Girl’ Blake Lively. The entire line will offer women a designer collection of beachwear and city looks at more-than-reasonable prices, with some garments costing as little as $36.00 and nothing priced over $88.00.

Ambiguously Disguised Catalogs: Manon Kundig's 'Bowerbird' Collection Showcases a Layering of Patterns

The Manon Kundig 'Bowerbird' collection features ambiguous and genderless garments that are enriched in a sea of painterly colors. The Antwerp-based designer takes visual inspiration from the world of popular culture and digital media and often experiments with technology to create her artfully conceived textiles.

From scarves and robes to oversized capes, models pose for this off-kilter catalog while hidden behind face-concealing disguises. Kundig's color-enriched creations are inspired by humankind and aim to blur the lines between artist and public, and stage and crowd. 

The unconventional designer experiments with strange materials and is known for working with inflatable latexes and hand-marbled silks.
